Lucknow: A wanted criminal carrying Rs 1 lakh reward on his arrest was killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki on Friday night.
The encounter was carried by Uttar Pradesh police with a team of Special Task Force.
The criminal was identified as Tinku Kapala, who sustained injuries in the encounter but later succumbed on the way to hospital.
"A total of 27 cases were registered against him, mostly of murder and loot," Dr Arvind Chaturvedi, SP Barabanki said.
"The criminal was involved in the state's Krishna Nagar jewellery case last year, in which two persons were killed," he said.
Police said that Kapala was accompanied by his aide, however, he managed to escape.
