Kanpur: The postmortem report of history-sheeter Vikas Dubey that arrived on Sunday, stated that his death was caused due to haemorrhage and shock due to ante-mortem firearm injuries.
The autopsy findings confirmed that the dreaded gangster had received three bullet injuries.
Dubey succumbed to the injuries sustained in a police encounter in the Sachendi area on the outskirts of Kanpur on July 10.
Dubey had also been tested for COVID-19 after his death, the report for which came out to be negative.
According to the post-mortem report, there were a total of 10 wounds on Dubey's body, said an official on the condition of anonymity.
"Six were entry and exit wounds of bullets, while the four other wounds were on the right side of the body," he said.
These wounds on the head, elbow, ribs and abdomen were due to falling on the ground after Dubey was shot thrice, the official added.
The first bullet pierced through the right shoulder, while the other two went through the left side of his chest, he said.
Dubey also had a small wound and swelling on his head and his elbow was bruised.
Vikas Dubey was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in Ujjain on July 9. He was on the run and had come to the city to offer prayers at the Mahakal temple.
Dubey was killed in an encounter on July 10 after a police vehicle carrying him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident and he tried to escape from the spot in Bhaunti area in Kanpur.
The gangster was the main accused in the encounter that took place in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur, in which a group of assailants opened fire on a police team, which had gone to arrest him. Eight police personnel were killed in the encounter.
