Uttar Pradesh: Security will be tight during Bakrid says DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi

In view of the Bakrid festival, the Uttar Pradesh Police DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has assured that the security will remain tight during the festival and has also appealed to religious leaders to maintain peace on the occasion of Eid-ul-Juha (Bakrid).

Lucknow: The UP police is on alert mode to maintain the arrangements during the Bakrid festival following COVID guidelines and has assured that the security will remain tight during the festival.

In view of the festival, the Uttar Pradesh Police DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has issued a directive and has given instructions to monitor drones in sensitive and mixed populated areas where people of criminal tendency will be monitored from the above.

Districts will be divided into zones and sectors on the occasion of Bakrid. During this time a heavy police force with magistrates and equivalent police officers will be appointed in each zone and sector. This will prevent any untoward incident from happening, DGP added.

DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has also appealed to religious leaders to maintain peace on the occasion of Eid-ul-Juha (Bakrid). Also, he has called upon people to celebrate the festival of Bakrid by staying in their homes and urged to follow social distancing.

The DGP has directed the authorities to monitor the areas where criminal incidents have occurred or those who have committed criminal incidents. The mutual dispute between the people should be settled before the festival, he said.

CCTV cameras should be arranged in sensitive areas. Instructions have also been issued to police employees doing duty in the front line to take care of their safety, Awasthi stated.
