Gorakhpur: Gangster Vikas Dubey involved in the killing of eight police personnel in Kanpur is still at large and there is a continuous manhunt by the Uttar Pradesh police to nab him.
Amid speculations that Dubey may try to flee to Nepal via the Indo-Nepal Sinauli border in UP as in the past, a number of wanted criminals have fled through the porous border to avoid clutches of law, the Uttar Pradesh police have stepped up vigil along the interstate-border and state's border with Nepal.
Gorakhpur ADG (law and order) Dawa Sherpa assured that the culprit will not be able to escape to Nepal, as arrangements have been put in place to nab the culprit to ensure justice for the martyred jawans.
"Police personnel are keeping a close watch at each and every road leading to the border. Posters of Vikas Dubey have been circulated and pasted in areas near Nepal border so that people may tip-off police if they see Dubey attempting to cross the border and enter Nepal," said Sherpa, under whose direction the search has been intensified, to nix any possibility of the gangster’s escape.
In addition to this, the state police are in constant contact with the SSB team at the border to keep themselves informed if the culprit gets sighted.
UP Police and Anti-Terrorism Squad are yet to discover the whereabouts of gangster Vikas Dubey. The reward on his arrest has been increased to Rs 2.5 lakhs.
