Mahoba: Tension prevailed at Ajnar police station here on Tuesday night, after some angry villagers created ruckus and pelted stones over electricity cut.
Explaining the whole incident, Mahoba's Police Superintendent Manilal Patidar said, "Due to a storm, Ajnar was experiencing power cut for the past five days. The staff of electricity department was working in the presence of a junior engineer, when a man approached them and started abusing them. After seeing the police, the accused tried to flee away but was caught by the police and was brought to the police station."
"Meanwhile in the police station, some villagers started a ruckus and resolved to stone pelting. We have arrested five people as of now. Two cases against the accused have been registered," continued Patidar.
A team has been formed to identify other people who were involved in the act. "Junior engineer, along with two police personnel, has been injured. They are currently undergoing medical treatment," informed Patidar.
Vehicles present near the police station were also vandalised by the villagers. Investigation into the matter is underway.
