UP: Police negligence left unidentified body in mortuary for the last 27 days

A 65-year-old unidentified man was found in the unconscious condition at Parmanand Chowk in UP's Mahoba. He was admitted to the district hospital where he died during treatment on November 12. Since then, the body has been kept in the mortuary.

Mahoba (Uttar Pradesh): A case of severe medical negligence has been found in Mahoba district where an unidentified dead body has been kept in the mortuary for the last 27 days.

According to the reports, Nirmal Kumar dialled the emergency number 108 on November 12 about a 65-year-old unidentified man who was found in the unconscious condition at Parmanand Chowk. Reacting promptly on the call, 108 ambulance reached the spot and took the man to the district hospital where he died during treatment on the same day.

Hospital authority claimed that they have informed the local police on the same day about the demise of the 65-year-old man.

According to the procedure, police have to give advertisement to the newspaper and other police stations about the unidentified body. If nobody claims the body within 72 hours then the police have to perform the funeral of the body after performing post-mortem.

When ETV Bharat asked the local police, they denied any information related to the demise of the 65-year-old unidentified man.

However, when we contacted the hospital authority, they have shown the documents which show that the hospital had sent the related document to the local police.

Meanwhile, the body has still been kept in the refrigerator of the hospital.
