Sitapur (Uttar Pradesh): A former village head along with his family members allegedly killed a village head representative by thrashing him with sticks and other sharp weapons over a political enmity on Thursday in Pakariya Dhaupupur village in Kotwali town, police said.
After receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation to nab the accused.
On Wednesday night, around eleven o'clock, Kallu Sharma, who is the husband of the village head, went to the other village, Gangapur, to enquire about the progress of MNREGA, police said.
Former village head Krishna Gopal along with his supporters Hazari Lal and Sunil reached the spot and attacked Kallu with sticks and other such weapons leading to his death on the spot, police said.
When the family of the deceased came to know about the incident, they informed the police.
After taking stock of the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Dixit, lodged an FIR.
