Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): Amid coronavirus lockdown, as hundreds of clueless migrant labourers are stuck on the Ghaziabad national highway, the buses that are being run for those people present a sorry state of affairs.

Chaos amid lockdown

Some buses in Lalkuan area were started as an alternative arrangement on the orders of the administration. But the roofs of buses are over-crowded with people mocking the social distancing.

Not only are the workers worried about the crowd in the buses which increases the risk of infection but they are also charged exorbitant rates.

Passengers allege that 1000 rupees are being charged by the buses whereas in normal days the rates go up to 300 only.

Such allegations raise serious questions on the steps taken by the administration to help the people amid nationwide lockdown.

Despite all the questions raised, the administration is turning a blind eye.

However, ADM City Shailendra Kumar claimed that all things are being monitored.

On Friday, thousands of migrant workers flocked to the borders of Ghaziabad while trying to head to their hometowns after factories and other establishments were shut down in view of the national lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contain the spread of coronavirus.
