Banda (Uttar Pradesh): A Bharatiya Janta Party candidate, Geeta Sagar Verma on Saturday, died of COVID-19 before nomination in panchayat elections in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the reports, she has got a ticket from Barokhar Khurd I (Ward No. 14) of the district in the Panchayat Elections. After that, she was busy campaigning in her area, when she got infected and later was admitted to a hospital in Kanpur.

Geeta had complained of mild fever and cough three days ago, after which the doctors of the Trauma Center referred her to Kanpur when her condition deteriorated, where she died on Saturday.

Geeta was about to file her nomination for the post of Zila Panchayat member.
