Unnao: Mahendra Singh, who was the lawyer of the rape victim of the Makhi rape case in which former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar got convicted, died on Monday after a prolonged illness.
The lawyer and the rape victim had been injured in a car accident in Rae Bareli in July last. They were admitted to AIIMS in Delhi for advanced treatment. While the rape victim was discharged after two months, Singh was sent home and asked to take complete rest.
According to family sources, his condition deteriorated last night and was rushed to the district hospital.
"He was doing fine but suddenly he started feeling unwell and we took him to the hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead," a family member said.
