Varanasi: Tej Bahadur Yadav, an ex-BSF jawan who was once in limelight for his viral video in which he complained against the poor quality food served to BSF personnel, donned his defence uniform to campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on Sunday.
When asked about why he wanted to contest from Varanasi, Yadav said, "When PM Modi can get the blessing from Lord Shiva, why can't I. I will take the blessing and will contest from Varanasi. PM Modi often said that he supports security forces while addressing people in rallies across the country. A jawan is fighting against him now, let him show support for me."
He claimed that many regional parties are supporting him and dialogue is still between him and the party workers of SP-BSP alliance.

"I am not against anyone, this is a fight between truth and false. PM Modi is professing lies and since Varanasi is his constituency, I am here to bring out the lies in front of the people," he added.
When asked why he is against the guidelines of the Election Commission of not using the armed forces for political advertisements, he replied that he was in defence uniform as he has not nominated himself for upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He also claimed that there is no objection from the Election Commission against him for wearing uniform till now.
