Basti (Uttar Pradesh): In a shocking case of embezzlement, the dead are reaping the benefits of the toilet construction scheme of Uttar Pradesh government in the Indrauli village of Harraiya block.
The embezzlers are also withdrawing money on behalf of the deceased.
As many as 11 dead people have been included in the beneficiary list, while there are cases that the money has been withdrawn but no toilet has been constructed yet.
The matter came to light when some villagers raised the alarm and submitted an application to the District Magistrate, Joint Magistrate, and BDO.
Joint Magistrate Prem Prakash Meena has said that necessary investigation will be done into the matter and action will be taken against those found guilty into the matter.
