Etah (Uttar Pradesh): In a gross case of medical negligence, a pregnant woman, who had delivered a baby after reaching the Community Health Centre at Uttar Pradesh's Aliganj, was left unattended on the floor of the hospital, much to the shock of her relatives and people.
According to sources, the woman delivered the baby while she was being shifted from an ambulance and both of them lay helpless until further help came. It was said that neither the doctors nor the nursing staff came forward to help the woman and her baby on time. Even the crowd remained mute spectators, watching the entire event unfold before their eyes.
After about 15 minutes, though a woman health worker reached there with a stretcher, she refused to help both of them stating that the baby was still attached to the mother with the umbilical cord. She (health worker) further alleged that the hospital staff remained unresponsive despite her repeated calls.

On Thursday afternoon, a pregnant woman arrived with her family members in an ambulance at Aliganj Community Health Center. When the lady reached the hospital, she started having labour pains and no sooner did she come down from the ambulance, she gave birth to her baby on the floor. During all this time, mother along with her baby was lying on the floor, but nobody came to help.
On being asked to give his explanation, Chief Medical Officer Dr Ajay Aggarwal said that after getting off the ambulance the woman gave birth to the child but immediately she was given treatment. "In such cases, complications are bound to happen and we attended to her in time," he claimed.
