Rae Bareli: Two farmers asleep on railway track run over by train

Two farmers were run over by a train in UP's Rae Bareli district while they were resting on the railway tracks. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem while the police have declared the accident a case of ignorance and carelessness on the part of farmers.

Rae Bareli: Two farmers sleeping on a railway track here were killed on Friday after being run over by a train, police said.

"The accident took place on the Lucknow-Varanasi route in Rae Bareli district's Ashrafpur village," they added.

The deceased identified as Ajay Shankar Shukla (38) and Rajaram Passi (38) were the residents of Angoori village in the same district.

They had gone to water their fields near Ashrafpur in the morning.

"After finishing their work, they sat on a railway track adjacent to their field for a short break and fell asleep soon after. A train came by and ran over them while they were still sleeping there," Station House Officer, Shivratanganj, Bharat Upadhyay, said.

Their distorted bodies were recovered after the accident and sent for post-mortem by the police.

The police have called the incident a result of the deceased's ignorance and carelessness.

         The incident took place on the Lucknow-Varanasi route in Ashrafpur village's Shivratanganj area here, they said.
         Ajay Shankar Shukla (38) and Rajaram Passi (38), residents of Angoori village, had gone to water their fields near Ashrafpur in the morning. They fell asleep on the railway line adjacent to their fields and were run over by a train, Station House Officer, Shivratanganj, Bharat Upadhyay, said.
