Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh): A complaint has been filed in a civil court in Uttar Pradesh against former US President Barack Obama for his statements over Congres leaders Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his memoir 'A Promised Land'.

The civil judge Vineet Yadav has fixed December 1 for the hearing of the matter.

The complainant, Gyan Prakash Shukla, has alleged that that the statements made by former US president Obama about Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi prove the interference in the internal political affairs of a democratic and sovereign nation.

Shukla said that millions of supporters of Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are angry with Barak Obama.

In his memoir 'A Promised Land' that hit the stands globally, former US President Barak Obama has stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has a "nervous, unformed quality" about him like a student eager to impress the teacher but lacking aptitude and passion to "master the subject."

Obama has also stated that more than one political observer believed that Sonia Gandhi picked Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister precisely because as an elderly Sikh with no national political base, he posed no threat to her 40-year-old son, Rahul, whom she was grooming to take over the Congress Party.

Quoting Manmohan Singh, Barack Obama has also stated that 'In uncertain times, Mr. President,' the prime minister said, 'the call of religious and ethnic solidarity can be intoxicating. And it's not so hard for politicians to exploit that, in India or anywhere else'.
