Ayodhya: Iqbal Ansari, who was one of the litigants in the Ayodhya title suit in the Supreme Court, on Saturday, condemned the move to challenge the special CBI court's ruling that acquitted all 32 accused including BJP veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi the 1992 demolition of Babri mosque.

On Friday, a criminal revision petition was filed with the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court, challenging the special CBI court’s order in the Babri Masjid demolition case, which had acquitted all the 32 accused.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Ansari stated that purpose of the revision petition is only to give rise to a new controversy and gain cheap popularity, adding that there was absolutely no need to file the petition when it was cleared that there existed a Ram temple at the disputed place.

It is a stupid decision to file a new petition in the High Court once again after the special CBI court's acquittal order. The construction of the temple has already started. The Muslim society across the country respects the decision of the Supreme Court, in such a situation, it is not right to give birth to a new controversy again," Ansari added.

He also questioned the people filing the petition and said that if they really care for the religion and Islam, then there should be a move to maintain other mosques which are not in so good condition in Ayodhya.

It is worth mentioning here that Ayodhya residents Haji Mahboob and Haji Sayyad Akhlaq Ahmad had filed the petition in the Lucknow bench of the high court on behalf of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.
