New Delhi: Ahead of the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati are scheduled to address poll rallies in Ayodhya on Wednesday.
Modi's rally is scheduled at noon in Maya Bazaar - just 25 km from the disputed site of the 16th-century Babri mosque in Ayodhya that was razed in 1992 by Hindutva driven forces who believe that it stood on the site of a temple that marked the birthplace of Lord Ram.
This would be the first visit of PM Modi to Ayodhya in the last five years, a move that's expected to fuel the claims of right-wing groups and allies like the Shiv Sena that the BJP uses the temple issue to draw votes.
On the other hand, Akhilesh and Mayawati are set to address a joint public at Ramsanehi Ghat in the afternoon. The area falls under Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency where the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls is going to be held on May 6.
The rallies are termed as a virtual face-off between BJP and SP-BSP.
