Ghaziabad/New Delhi: Unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked and injured a journalist and his fiancee while they were returning to Delhi from Muradnagar town in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
The injured journalist has been identified as Ravi Chaudhary, working as a photojournalist with a news agency.
According to sources, the incident took place on Monday at around 6 pm when the couple was on a bike.
Chaudhary claimed that a group of 5-6 unidentified men who were in an SUV 'Government of India' written on it intercepted them on Ganga Canal Road.
When he opposed them, the miscreants started beating him. They also abused him and also assaulted his fiancee, he alleged.
Later, a passerby came to the rescue of the couple and they managed to escape from the spot, sources said.
The journalist has also tweeted about the incident tagging UP CM Yogi Adityanath and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and UP Police, "On a bike, I was attacked by 5-6 men on Ganga canal road. BOLERO car no: UP 14 DN 9545, had written 'Bharat Sarkar' on it. Muradnagar police refused to lodge FIR. What to do?"
Meanwhile, the police refuted Ravi's allegation claiming there was no delay in taking the action.
Police claimed that they have traced the vehicle and got some leads in the case and accused will be arrested soon, sources added.
