Minor rape victim dies while being treated for injuries

A 12-year old girl passed away after being raped by a youth while people celebrated Holi in a village of Unnao district in UP on Tuesday. Police said the rape victim died while being treated for her injuries in a hospital of Kanpur. They said efforts were on to nab the accused, who ran away after the incident.

Unnao: A minor girl, who was raped on Tuesday in a village under Bihar police station of the district, died in Hallett hospital of Kanpur last night, police said on Wednesday.

Police said the girl was lured by a local youth to the near-by fields when villagers were busy celebrating the festival of Holi.

The 12 year-old was found unconscious by some people and they informed the family and the police, the police said.

She was rushed to a near-by health centre from where the victim was referred to the district hospital and finally taken to the Hallett hospital in Kanpur after her condition deteriorated.

The girl died during treatment, the police said, adding that probe was on and the accused would be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, father of the victim told ETV Bharat that he would want the rapist to be hanged to death.
