Man arrested for minor boy's kidnap and murder in Uttar Pradesh

A team of Uttar Pradesh STF has arrested a man in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a minor boy in Maharajganj district. The boy had gone missing on Wednesday when he was playing games on a mobile phone outside his house.

Maharajganj: The Uttar Pradesh police arrested a man in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 7-year-old child in Maharajganj district.

The accused, who is the uncle of the victim, was arrested by a team of STF on Sunday.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Pradeep Gupta, Superintendent of Police, said the deceased named Piyush was playing games on a mobile phone outside his house Wednesday from where he went missing.

"His parents started searching for him and lodged a missing report in this regard. Later, the boy's father received a threatening letter in which the abductors demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh," he said.

He further said that the accused has been arrested on the charge of murder and the matter is being further investigated.
