Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Hours after Vikas Dubey was arrested in Ujjain, the gangster's mother on Thursday remarked that it was the Lord who saved her son.
Speaking to reporters, Sarla Devi, who lives with her other son Deep Prakash Dubey in Lucknow, said that Vikas used to visit the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain every year, from where he was arrested earlier today.
She went on to remark that it was the Lord who saved her son.
"He used to visit Ujjain every year and offer prayers at the Mahakaleshwar temple. It was the Lord who saved him," she said.
Further, Devi said that the government should do what it deems appropriate, indicating that her son might not have the support of the current dispensation.
"Now, the government should do whatever it deems appropriate. Presently, he (Vikas Dubey) is not with the BJP, but with Samajwadi Party (SP)," she said.

Earlier in the day, dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey, who had been on the run for almost a week, ever since the ambush and killing of eight police personnel in Kanpur, was finally arrested from the Mahakaleshwar temple in the Madhya Pradesh town of Ujjain.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said he spoke to his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath after the gangster's arrest. The MP police will hand over Dubey to Uttar Pradesh police, he added.
