Kids served 'salt-n-roti' as midday meal in UP school, two suspended

Children in a primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district were seen being served Rotis with only salt as their midday meal. After ETV Bharat reported about the incident, District Magistrate Anurag Patel said that two officials have been suspended in the regard.

Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh): In a shocking revelation, students of a government primary school in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh were seen being served salt and roti (flatbread) under the midday meal scheme.

In a video, children of the Siyur primary school in Hinauta village can be seen sitting on the floor of the school corridor, eating rotis with just some salt in their plates.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Ashok, a parent said that children were not being served proper food in the school for the past year. "Children are given either roti-salt or rice-salt on most days, and milk and bananas are served only rarely," he said.

After ETV Bharat reported about the incident, District Magistrate Anurag Patel confirmed the incident, saying that an inquiry was ordered.

"I have got an inquiry conducted and the incident has been found to be true. Prima facie, it is the fault of the teacher in-charge of the school Murari, and the supervisor at the Gram Panchayat, NPRC Arvind Tripathi. Both have been suspended," he said.

Patel further added that the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) and the deputy BSA have been asked to give an explanation for the lapse.

The midday meal scheme is designed to provide proper nutrition to scores of children from poor families who study in government schools across the country.

According to the website of state Midday Meal Authority, the overseeing body for these meals in the state, government-run primary schools list an elaborate menu that is supposed to be served to children.

It includes pulses, rice, rotis and vegetables. Fruits and milk are included on certain days, according to the meal chart.

The Uttar Pradesh government spokesman said that it is providing midday meals in over 1.5 lakh primary and middle schools across the state. Over 1 crore children are supposed to benefit from the scheme.

According to the Centre, the midday meal scheme is designed to provide a minimum of 450 calories per child per day, which should include at least 12 grams of protein each day too. These meals should be served to each child, at least, 200 days a year.

Intro:सरकार हर वर्ष प्राथमिक स्कूलों के बच्चों के मिड डे मील के लिए करोड़ों रुपए खर्च करती है।फिर भी बेसिक शिक्षा ले रहे बच्चों को मिड डे मील में दिया जा रहा है खाने में सिर्फ नमक और रोटी। यह पूरा मामला मिर्जापुर के जमालपुर विकासखंड के ग्रामसभा हिनौता के सीयूर प्राथमिक विद्यालय का है जहां बच्चे एक महीने से नमक रोटी और चावल नमक खाने को मजबूर हैं मामला संज्ञान में आते ही जिला बेसिक शिक्षा अधिकारी ने जांच कर कार्रवाई करने की बात कही।Body:एक तरफ जहा सरकार प्राथमिक विद्यालयों में छात्रों के दोपहर के भोजन मिड डे मील पर करोड़ो रूपये खर्च कर रही हैं और बच्चों के लिए मीनू कार्ड भी बना है उसके हिसाब से हर दिन अलग अलग पौष्टिक भोजन देने का विधान भी है इसके अलावा दूध, फल आदि भी देने का निर्देश है लेकिन उसके बावजूद बच्चों के खाने पर डाका डाला जा रहा है और बच्चों को रूखा सूखा खाने को मिल रहा है यँहा तक छात्रों को नमक रोटी परोशी जा रही है यह तस्वीरे दिखने को मिली मिर्ज़ापुर के जमालपुर विकास खंड के ग्रामसभा हिनौता के सीयूर प्राथमिक विद्यालय में जंहा पिछले एक महीने से मिडडेमील के अनियमितता से परेशान बच्चे विद्यालय में भूखे पेट शिक्षा लेने को मजबूर हैं। बच्चो को मिलता है रोटी नमक तो कभी नमक चावल खुद शिक्षा मित्र शांति बात रही है इस तरह से सालों से चल रहा है यहां पर यहां जिसके पास मिड डे मील का चार्ज है वह कहते हैं आप कुछ नहीं बोलेंगी। मजबूर हैं यहां कोई पद नहीं है प्रधानाध्यापक की जो है मैडम और छुट्टी पर हैं।
यहां के अभिभावक भी परेशान हैं अपने बच्चों को भेजते हैं लेकिन नमक रोटी खा कर पढ़ाई कर रहे हैं इसकी शिकायत कई बार किए लेकिन कोई कार्रवाई नहीं हुई अभिभावकों का कहना है कि सालों से ऐसे चल रहा है यहां 3 अध्यापक हैं लेकिन केवल एक शिक्षामित्र से चल रहा है स्कूल।
वहीं जिला बेसिक शिक्षा अधिकारी प्रवीण तिवारी ने कहा यह मामला गंभीर है अभी संज्ञान में आया है यह एबीएसए से आख्या मांगी गई है यहां जो भी टीचर हैं यदि अवगत नहीं कराया गया है तो सभी दोषी माने जाएंगे सब के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाएगी जांच कराकर यहां के जो प्रधानाध्यापिका हैं वह छुट्टी पर चल रही हैं चार्ज बगल वाले स्कूल के प्रधानाध्यापक को दिया गया है एक कमेटी बनाकर सामूहिक जांच कराया जाएगा जो भी दोषी होगा उसके खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

Conclusion:हम आपको बता दें कि बीजेपी प्रदेश अध्यक्ष स्वतंत्र देव सिंह का है जमालपुर ब्लाक के ऑडी गांव में पुश्तैनी मकान है उनके परिवार के कुछ लोग यहां रहते भी हैं उनका आना-जाना भी लगा रहता है इस ब्लॉक से उनका बहुत लगाव है सरकार भी उनकी है इसके बावजूद भी यहां की शिक्षा व्यवस्था का क्या हाल है इसका अंदाजा लगा सकते हैं कि प्रदेश में और क्या हाल होगा।
