Kanpur Encounter: Two sub-inspectors, one constable suspended; FIR to be lodged

Uttar Pradesh police suspended three police officials, including a sub-inspector, in connection with their alleged links with wanted history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. The links were revealed by the phone details.

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): A sub-inspector and two constables of Uttar Pradesh police have been suspended in connection with Kanpur Encounter case on Monday.

According to sources, all the policemen were in touch with Vikas Dubey, as was revealed by phone details.

Sub-inspectors Kunwar Pal, Krishna Kumar Sharma and constable Rajeev have been suspended.

Meanwhile, SSP Kanpur said that an FIR will be lodged and preliminary inquiry will be initiated against the SI Kunwarpal, SI Krishna Kumar Sharma, constable Rajeev in connection with the death of 8 police personnel in Kanpur

Uttar Pradesh police have increased the cash reward on the head of history-sheeter Vikas Dubey to Rs 2.5 lakhs from Rs 1 lakh.

His pictures have also been put up at Unnao toll plaza by police. The search operation is underway to nab him.

Eight police personnel, including a DSP, were shot dead in an encounter at a village near Kanpur by the henchmen of Vikas Dubey.

The encounter took place when the police team was approaching to arrest Vikas Dubey, a history-sheeter facing 60 criminal cases, in Dikru village under Chaubeypur police station on the intervening night of July 2 and July 3.

As the police team was about to reach the hideout of the dreaded criminal, a hail of bullets was showered on them from a building rooftop, leaving Deputy SP Devendra Mishra, three sub-inspectors and four constables dead.

Seven others, including a civilian, were injured in the attack.

Among the deceased were Circle Officer, Bilhor, Devendra Kumar Mishra, Shivrajpur police station officer Mahesh Chandra Yadav.

The deceased sub-inspectors and Station Incharge were Nebu Lal of Shivrajpur Police station and Anup Kumar Singh of Mandhana Police station. Four constables, namely Sultan Singh, Rahul, Bablu and Jitendra of Chaubeypur police station were also killed in the encounter.
