Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): An FIR was lodged against 35 persons, including history-sheeter Vikas Dubey, for the attack in Kanpur in which eight policemen were killed.
The FIR was lodged against the accused at the Chaubeypur police station for murder and looting of weapons.
Eight police personnel, including a DSP, were shot dead in an encounter at a village near Kanpur by the henchmen of Dubey.
The encounter took place when the police team was approaching to arrest Dubey, a history sheeter facing 60 criminal cases, in Dikru village under Chaubeypur police station on the intervening night of July 2 and July 3.
As the police team was about to reach the hideout of the dreaded criminal, a hail of bullets was showered on them from a building rooftop, leaving Deputy SP Devendra Mishra, three sub-inspectors and four constables dead.

Seven others, including a civilian, were injured in the attack.
Meanwhile, two criminals were gunned down in the combing operation in the aftermath of the encounter, the police said.
"Two criminals -- Prem Prakash and Atul Kumar-- were gunned down in a combing operation carried out by the police team. They both were the residents of Bikaru village," IG (law and order) Uttar Pradesh, Jyoti Narayan said.
