Lucknow: An interfaith couple from Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh has taken to the social media to seek police protection, the video of which is doing rounds on all social media platforms, a source said.
Police said the woman who hails from Brahmin community married a man from the Dalit community. According to the woman, her family has been threatening to kill the man she is married to.
The couple, in the viral video, alleged that even though they had approached the local police to seek protection, no action was taken against the woman's family due to which they have been living in fear.
"The girl ran away from her home and she got married to a Dalit man in court on August 18. Soon after the incident was highlighted the girl's family initially registered an FIR claiming that their daughter was kidnapped," a cop said.

The woman informed that she posted the video on September 7 and since then her in-laws are being threatened.
"I married a man from a different community on my own. I am quite happy with my marriage. However, my family at home is unhappy and they are in fact threatening to kill me, my husband and his family," the woman said.
SP Yamuna Prasad informed that a case has been registered and the police have already extended help to the couple.
