Indian Puppet master has no idea about Big B's movie on Puppets

Puppets named 'Gulabo Sitabo' are quite famous in India and Alakh Narayan Srivastava, the person behind the whole concept of Puppet shows in India is also from Lucknow. He began making puppets since 1958 and took his training from Naini cultural institute.

Narayan wishes upcoming generations take an interest in puppetry

Puppets named 'Gulabo Sitabo' are quite famous in India and Alakh Narayan Srivastava, the person behind the whole concept of Puppet shows in India is also from Lucknow.

While speaking to ETV Bharat he stated that he is unaware about the movie and its storyline too.

He began with the culture of making puppets since 1958 and took his training from Naini cultural institute.

After completing his training he went to Delhi. In those days, Delhi was for the first time witnessing the culture of Puppet culture through various theatre shows of Vimla Raina, the wife of the then Deputy Minister Jagath Mohan Raina.

After watching his show at the 'India 58th Exhibition' the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had also praised him.

Narayan has also conducted many shows at various schools, colleges and ministries.

He has alleged that even after constant attempts and request to the government no initiatives have been taken to further develop and nourish the Puppet culture in India.

Talking about the financial gains in this profession, he stated that the profit level is quite low.

He has given the credit of his entire professional life to his wife, who has assisted and supported him a lot.

Narayan also wishes that the upcoming generations need to be made aware of the puppet culture. As puppets can be used as a tool to bring forward sensitive issues to society.
