Hathras (UP): The campus of the BLS International school saw protests by parents of Hindu students studying here after a photo of students offering Namaaz in the school campus went viral on social media. Alleging that even the Hindu students in the school were asked to offer Namaz along with Muslims, some parents, with support from the members of Hindutva groups, recited Hanuman Chalisa in front of the school premises on Wednesday to show resistance.
The protesters have also reportedly demanded that an FIR be filed against the school authorities responsible for the incident. The district authorities have taken cognisance of the matter and initiated action to investigate it thoroughly. District Magistrate Archana Verma on Wednesday constituted a two-member inquiry committee to probe the matter.
The authorities have nominated the Deputy District Magistrate Hathras as the chairman of the committee, and the District School Inspector Hathras as a member. The committee will investigate the matter and submit the report to the DM.
As informed by SDM Ashutosh Singh, some children were seen wearing burqas in the photos that went viral. "Some Hindu parents have claimed that their children too were forced to offer Namaz, though we are still investigating the matter. We will probe the case seriously from every angle," Singh said.
Responding to the outrage, the school management said that the principal of the school has been suspended. "We will take adequate action against those who are guilty," the management reassured, though the parents remained adamant about their demand to register an FIR against the authorities responsible.
