Hathras (Uttar Pradesh): A 77-year-old man died and his 45-year-old son sustained grievous injuries after the cement shed and wall of the room in which they were sleeping collapsed at Berua village in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district on Tuesday night. The injured has been shifted to Agra for treatment.
The incident took place under Sadabad police station limits.
On getting information, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadabad Rajesh Kumar visited the village to take stock of the situation and has assured financial assistance to the family.

As per the primary investigation, Nannumal (77) and his son Ramprakash (45) were sleeping in a room in front of their house. Following heavy thunderstorms and rainfall, the cement shed and wall of the room collapsed and the father-son duo got trapped under the debris. Locals rushed to help them but the father succumbed to his injuries at the spot while the son was rushed to a local Community Health Center for first-aid.
It is believed that Ramprakash averted death by moving under the cot at the time of the accident following which he got shelter and saved his life.
So far two people have lost their lives while many have been left injured in rain-related incidents at different locations of the district. The administration has alerted people to remain careful while avoiding mishaps.
