Deoria: A Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel Amar Nath Yadav was allegedly thrashed by two youth in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, after an argument broke out when the policeman asked them to stand in a queue at the ticket counter.
The video of the incident has gone viral.
The whole incident occurred at the Deoria railway station when the officer asked the accused to follow the line of the ticket counter. Subsequently, a heated argument broke out in which the two sides hurled abuses at each other.
The personnel was badly injured, but no one came to his rescue at the location. However, other GRP personnel reached the spot and normalised the situation.
According to GRP Inspector Ravinder Bahadur Singh, the two youth have been arrested and a case has been registered in this regard.
The duo have been arrested and are likely to be chargesheeted under relevant IPC sections pertaining to physical assault and attack on a government servant.
Uttar Pradesh's police investigation into the matter is still underway.
