Kannauj: A girl who was returning from work on Saturday evening was gang-raped by two men who offered her a lift in Uttar Pradesh's Tirwa Kotwali area.
After raping, the two men abandoned the woman in an isolated place and escaped. After reaching her home, the girl told the family members about the incident, who informed the police.
Police arrested both the accused on the information and are questioning them. The girl has been sent for medical examination.
What happened?
The girl living in a colony in the Tirwa Kotwali area works at a readymade garments shop in the town. On Saturday night, while returning home she stopped to buy vegetables. At the same time, a young man who knew her stopped his bike with his partner. They offered the girl a lift which she refused, however, the young man convinced the girl citing that it was night.
After going a little distance, the young man turned the bike to another road seeing which the girl protested but by the time the youth took her to a secluded place. After that, both the youths raped the woman in turn and escaped leaving the girl unconscious.

Police's emergency number did not connect
It is being told that after the incident, the woman tried to give information on the phone to the police. But the 'dial 112' did not work. Upon reaching home, the woman narrated the incident to her family members. The family reported the matter to the police.
Accused arrested
Police inspector Indrapal Saroj, who arrived on being informed, arrested both the youngsters. He said that action will be taken by registering a case on the basis of the complaint.
