Meerut: Uttar Pradesh police arrested two fraudsters on Monday for allegedly duping a doctor in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on promising to double his assets with black magic.
The accused have been identified as Ikramuddin and his brother-in-law, Anish of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the complaint of Dr Layik Ahmed Khan, the accused duped Rs 32 lakh by promising him to double their investment through black magic and divine intervention.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Khan said, " A year ago, my son became ill and took the help of two Sufi saints. They promised me to cure my son and double my income through black magic and divine intervention.
"In the pretext of black magic and my son's cure, the two accused duped Rs 32 lakh from me. In the desire of becoming rich, I gave my whole life's earnings to the thugs," Dr Khan lamented.
Later, Dr Khan lodged a complaint against the accused fraudsters with Bramhapuri police station.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team lead by circle officer Amit Ray nabbed the accused persons and seized Rs 20,000 from their possession. They will be produced in court for remand procedures.
Speaking about their modus operandi, police officer, Amit Ray said main accused Ikramuddin told Dr Khan that he was blessed with the divine power of God, who conferred upon him the capacity to double the money of anyone.
" We have arrested the accused duo and we have also launched a manhunt to nab other accused persons as we got information about their gang. Further investigation is underway," he said.
