Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh): A landlord's son shot bullets at a couple after they denied proffering house rent amid lockdown in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh district on Monday morning.
According to the reports, Rakesh Roy (38), a businessman of two-wheeler spare parts, has been living in a rented house of Sanjeev Singh for the last five years.
Due to the nationwide lockdown, the business of Roy has affected drastically as the centre had directed to shut down all the shops which did not fall under 'essential-services'.
On Sunday, when Sanjeev Singh asked Roy to give the rent, he denied saying he has been facing a huge loss in business due to lockdown. After which a heated argument broke out between Roy and Singh, late night.
When the son of the landlord got to know about the heated argument last night, he fired bullets at Roy and his wife in the wee hours of Monday.
Police reached the spot and sent the couple to a hospital nearby.
The condition of his wife is critical and the doctor has asked the relatives to shift her to another hospital.
Meanwhile, talking to ETV Bharat, SP Triveni Singh said that a case has been registered and the accused was nabbed from the spot.
