New Delhi: The Ghaziabad-Delhi border has been sealed and the police have tightened the vigil to prohibit the traffic movement in the city to contain the spread of coronavirus. Only those rendering essential services and people holding valid pass will be allowed to travel across the border.

The decision was taken after six people who had come from Delhi tested positive for coronavirus, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey said in an order issued on April 20.

The order was issued under the National Disaster Act 2005 and came in force immediately. The administration said the health workers, media persons and people in essential services having valid passes issued by state authorities will be allowed to travel across the border.

The administration further added the people involved in delivering essential service have to renew their passes.

On Tuesday, a total of 153 fresh COVID-19 cases, including 65 from Agra and 33 from Rae Bareli, were reported in Uttar Pradesh, taking the total tally in the state to 1,337 from 53 districts, informed its health department.
