Agra (UP): As the country has seen a spurt in the number of positive cases of coronavirus, Agra district administration on Thursday started thermal screening of foreign tourists at Shilpagram.
According to sources, a meeting was held between the health department and administrative officials on Thursday morning at the District Magistrate's residence. It was decided in the meeting that teams will be formed for screening tourists who are coming from abroad.
The teams have been deployed at the parking lot at Shilpagram near Taj Mahal. The three teams are carrying out the screenings at the District Hospital, the parking area of Taj Mahal at Shilpagram, and in the Dayalbagh area with a thermal gun, sources said.
The screening with 'thermal guns' is being done at the east gate parking area of the monument. Six people from Agra are among the 30 positive cases of coronavirus detected so far.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, screening in-charge of the Health Department, Dr Arun Dutt, said, "Foreign tourists come to see the Taj Mahal. Four golf carts have been selected for this. Every foreign tourist is screened with an infrared thermometer (thermal gun)."
"Only after this, the tourists are being sent to see the Taj Mahal. Any foreign tourist who has symptoms of cold, cough, cold or fever will be sent to the district hospital for sampling," he added.
"Teams have been formed for the screening of foreign men visiting the Taj Mahal. Separate desks have also been established at the eastern and western gate of the Taj Mahal. Along with this, teams were also formed for screening foreign tourists at Agra station and other stations," said Prabhu Narayan Singh, District Magistrate, Agra.
