Ghaziabad (UP): IAS officer Ajay Shankar Pandey who took charge as the new district magistrate of Ghaziabad has been cleaning his office himself for years now.
He believes that cleanliness and sanitation are not a one-time campaign.
He started this since he became the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in Etmadpur, Agra district, in 1993.
Pandey has also put a notice outside his room saying, "I clean my room. Please don't dirty it unnecessarily and increase my workload."
Dr Ajay Shankar Pandey walked in with a broom, started cleaning his room, and proceeded to sweep the office premises and it goes with him daily.
Upon seeing the officer take the initiative, other officials agreed to start a sanitation drive in the municipal area. With their cooperation, he started this campaign in the city itself.
UP IAS officer comes to work 10 mins early every day to clean his own office, he said
Dr Pandey is a stickler for cleanliness. In his words, it’s his “passion and mission” and according to him, cleanliness is a daily routine.
Ajay Shankar Pandey has also been honoured by the state government for spreading awareness about cleanliness.
