Chlorine gas leaks at Jal Nigam office in Uttar Pradesh

Three people were rushed to hospital after a cylinder was seen leaking chlorine gas at Jal Nigam office in Raebareli.

Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh): A gas leakage was reported in the Jal Nigam of the Raebareli sector in Uttar Pradesh in the wee hours of Friday.

However, no casualty and property loss has been reported so far.

According to sources, a group of workers first noticed the leak from a chlorine gas cylinder kept in the disposal ground of the office.

Being informed, police reached the site with fire tenders.

Police said that there were three chlorine gas cylinders kept in a dumping area of the office, where one of the cylinders was releasing chlorine gas.

"Following that we took away all the three cylinders and disposed them into a local river", said police.

According to sources, three locals fell sick after they came in contact with the gas.

They were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
