UP: At least three dead, many feared trapped after house collapses in Lucknow's Hazratganj

Nine people have been recovered from under the rubble, and have been admitted to the hospital.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): At least nine people have been rescued, and three bodies recovered after a multi-story residential building collapsed in the Hazratganj area of Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Tuesday. Speaking about the incident, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said rescue work was on Speaking about the issue, Lucknow DM Surya Pal Gangwar said apart from NDRF and SDRF, the Army too had been summoned for the rescue work.

A total of eight families were inside the building when it collapsed and 30 to 35 persons are suspected to be still trapped under the debris, the UP DGP said. When inquired whether the building collapse could have been caused due to the earthquake in Delhi and adjacent areas earlier in the day, Lucknow District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar said no immediate answers could be provided.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to provide necessary treatment to those injured, while also asking hospitals to remain alert. "UP CM Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident of collapse of an old building in district Lucknow. The Chief Minister has directed the officials of the district administration to immediately take the injured to the hospital for their proper treatment. Also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured." the tweet from the CM's office, read.

Meanwhile, a similar tragedy took place in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district earlier this week, as four labourers, including two women, were crushed to death after a wall collapse at a groundnut oil mill. The labourers were collecting groundnut seeds when the incident took place.
