Agra: As the campaigning for 2019 general elections is gaining momentum with every passing day, political parties and their respective candidates are leaving no stone unturned to let a single vote slip out of their kitty. On Monday, the residents of Agra were in for a surprise when they saw Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh walking down the streets of the city, appealing the public to cast their votes for Samajwadi Party (SP)- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alliance candidate Manoj Soni.
However, those who tried to attract voters' attention were not the real star faces of tensil town but their look-alikes -Yunus Sayyed and Deepak Kumar who had been fielded by senior SP leader Akbar Qureshi campaign for Soni who is contesting from the Agra parliamentary constituency.
In a show of bonhomie, Qureshi, along with the celebrity look-alikes campaigned through the streets, as they mimicked the respective actors, asking people to cast their votes in favour of the BSP candidate.
"We have sounded the election bugle, and we (read SP-BSP) are collectively working to make the alliance successful. I am campaigning for Manoj Soni along with the look-alikes of Saif and Riteish's, " said Qureshi.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, Qureshi added, "The recent meeting held by Yogi Adityanath and Amit Shah witnessed an empty ground."
Although the campaigners were not real stars, people flocked to the streets to take selfies with them.
Sayyed, a Saif look-alike said, "We have come here to support Manoj Soni and Akbar Qureshi hoping that this alliance will help bring about a change and undo the damage done by the BJP."
There are 11 candidates in fray from Agra (reserve) seat.
