Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh): In a video that has now gone viral on social media, BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh's Tirwa constituency, Kailash Singh Rajput, is purportedly seen hurling expletives at the staff of a fuel station.
In the video, the legislator can be seen verbally abusing the staff and even the owner of the petrol bunk, threatening to shut the place down. The MLA almost goes on to physically assault a man, before he is stopped by another person.
Explaining his side of the story, the legislator said that the incident took place on June 22, when he was returning from Kanpur. At around 9-10 pm, his driver stopped at a bunk in Tirwa to refuel.
However, the legislator accused the petrol bunk of fraud, claiming that even though the meter started running, there was no fuel coming out of the pipe.
"When I pointed this out and protested, the staff, who were drunk, used foul language against me. In the heat of the moment, even I used some expletives," Rajput said, expressing regret over his actions.
"I express my regret for the wrong words which slipped out of my mouth," he said.
The MLA further went on to accuse the petrol bunk of being the district's "number 1" when it came to cheating customers.
"If an MLA is being cheated, imagine the plight of the common man," he legislator added.
