Rae Bareli: A Bangladeshi woman, along with her husband, was arrested for possessing fake Indian passport on Monday in Korauli Budhkar village in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli district.
Sumaiya Banu, a resident of Dhaka, got married to Muhammad Israr when he used to work in Bangladesh three years ago.
"In the month of January, we received a letter from foreign department which had information pertaining to Sumaiya Banu. It was found that Banu was detained in Kolkata airport and the authorities were dissatisfied with her answers during the inquiry, which lead to further investigation," told SP Swapnil Mamgai.
"Further investigation revealed that she got married to a resident of Rae Bareli in 2016 in Bangladesh and started residing in India without informing the concerned authorities and used forged documents," added Mamgai.
Cases have been registered under relevant sections and the investigation is underway.
