Bail plea of Hathras rape accused rejected

A district court rejected the bail plea of Ramu, one of the four main accused in the alleged Hathras gang rape and murder case. The hearing in the main case is scheduled for February 11.

Hathras: The district court on Saturday rejected the bail plea of one of the accused in the alleged Hathras gang rape and deferred the hearing to February 11.

According to the reports, Ramu, one of the four main accused in the case, filed a bail plea in the district court.

The 19-year-old had succumbed to her injuries at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital on September 29 after being assaulted and allegedly gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras on September 14.

Her body was cremated by the Uttar Pradesh Police and the administration allegedly without the consent or the presence of the victim's family.

The Supreme Court had earlier directed that the Allahabad High Court will monitor the probe, being conducted by the CBI into the Hathras case.
