UP: All India Shia Personal Law Board opposes population control bill

An important meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board was held in Sultanul Madrasa of the capital. Lucknow: An important meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board was held in Sultanul Madrasa of the capital. In this meeting, many members including the Chairman of the board, Maulana Sayam Mehndi and the secretary and spokesperson of the board, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, were present. In this meeting, along with discussions on many issues related to the Muslim community, the religious conversion law and Population Control Bill Draft were openly opposed.

In the meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, Shia religious leader and secretary of the board, Maulana Yasoob Abbas said that the Uttar Pradesh government should revisit the Population Control Bill draft. He said that the All India Shia Personal Law Board opposes the Population Control Bill draft and demanded from the Uttar Pradesh government that instead of this law, the level of education in the state should be elevated. Open schools and colleges, so that awareness among the population is created. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board, Maulana Sayam Mehndi said that if such a law is made, then first this law should apply to the MLAs, MLCs, and leaders of the country.

He further added that any law should be applicable for the whole of India and not just for one state. Taking a jibe at the government, Maulana said that when there are only six months left for the elections in Uttar Pradesh, in such a situation, bringing this law seems to be related to politics.

In the executive meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, the board expressed its displeasure over the issue of religious conversion, saying that under the guise of conversion, some people target Islam. The board strictly condemns such actions. If someone of his free will accept Islam without any coercion, then he is a Muslim. Otherwise, he can't be converted to a Muslim under any greed or coercion and pressure, because it is not allowed in Islam.

The All India Shia Personal Law Board expressed its displeasure over Wasim Rizvi's controversial statements, all the board members spoke of Wasim Rizvi's boycott. On the issue of Wasim Rizvi, the board clarified its stand, saying that the one who defames the Quran and Islam gets rejected from Islam. In this regard, the All India Shia Personal Law Board appealed to the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath to ban Wasim Rizvi and take action against him.

All India Shia Personal Law Board Secretary and Muslim religious leader Maulana Yasoob Abbas clarified the stand of the board regarding the upcoming assembly election 2022. He added that the board is not in favour of any political party. It will not issue any statements but if the political parties look into the issues of the Shia community, then the board will also look out for such party.
