Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) removed Faizabad and instead used Ayodhya in its banners and posters put up for the promotion of its public meeting, following an objection from the priests of Ayodhya.
Earlier, AIMIM had given Ayodhya as Faizabad on the posters it has prepared for the party chief Asasudhin Owaisi's three-day visit to the state, starting Sept 7.
However, prominent priests like Mahant Raju Das of Hanumangarhi and Mahant Paramhans Das, the successor of the ascetic cantonment, warned AIMIM that if the name of the district had not been changed on the poster, they would now allow the public meeting in Ayodhya. Mahant Paramhans Das had also visited the venue of the public meeting on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the AIMIM chief kick-started his three-day tour today in the state in Ayodhya, where Owaisi was to address the "Vanchit Shoshit Sammelan" in Rudauli town.
"On September 8, AIMIM chief has a programme in Sultanpur. Then on September 9, the last day of the tour, Owaisi will go to Barabanki," the organising committee said.
