Agra: Shilpgram getting ready for Taj Mahaotsav

Shilpgram at Agra is getting ready to host the international festival, 'Taj Mahotsava’. The theme for this year is ‘colours of culture with the Taj’. Around 275 images are being made on the 135 walls and pillars of the Shilpgram. Local artists, as well as artists from Bollywood, folk singers, and other artists, will be showcasing their talent from 18-27 February.

Agra: Artists from Prayagraj have been called to decorate the walls and pillars of the Shilpgram, which is set to host the Taj Mahotsava. Pictures of Hindu God and Goddess, rural life, Mumtaz, Shahjahan, TajMahal and other heritages have found their place on the walls and pillars of the gram. The Mukta Kashi stage is being prepared on the theme of the Agra fort.

Shilpgram hosts the Big Bazaar

Taj Mahotsav takes place in Agra every year from 18-27 February. Tourists from all across the globe attend this international fair. Taj Mahal and the surroundings become a mini India for ten days. Artists from various places set up Bada Bazaar at Shilpgram, showcasing their artefacts and products. People can buy local as well as products from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jammu Kashmir etc.

Walls and pillars will be inscribed with 275 pictures

Ajit Kumar, a painter working here says that all 15 artists working here are from Prayagraj. Around 275 images are being made on the 135 walls and pillars of the Shilpgram. These include Ardhnareshwar avatar of Lord Shiva, Leela's of lord Krishna, Hindu Gods along with pictures of Shahjahan, Mumtaz, Taj Mahal, musical instruments and rural life. Worli and Madhubani art forms find a place in these paintings. Most of the work has been completed.

Artists will do a presentation at the Shilpgram

Officials from Tourism department, District administration and other departments are involved in the preparations for the Mahotsav. Local artists, as well as artists from Bollywood, folk singers and other artists, will be showcasing their talent every evening from the Mukta Kashi stage. The list for the same has been prepared. Now, only the mini India is to be replicated here.
