Agra: Explosion in Jones Mill complex, building collapses

British-era Jones Mill complex collapsed after a huge explosion damaged the structure on Sunday. Police have initiated an investigation to find the cause of the blast. The forensic team also reached the spot and collected evidence.

Agra (Uttar Pradesh): A massive explosion ripped through the Jones Mill complex collapsing a large portion of building in Jatni Bagh of Mandi area falling under Chhatta police limits on Sunday, police said. The prima facie of the case seems to be a ground dispute.

No casualty has been reported as no person was found in the vicinity due to the lockdown.

Built during the British era, the land is a valuable asset, however, a merchant named Rajjo Jain claims this land as his own.

Several transporters and traders have warehouses at Jones Mill Compound, one of these godowns is owned by Kuldeep Singh Sodhi since 1971.

Kuldeep Singh informed police that Rajjo Jain had sold the land and they had a conversation about vacating the warehouse.

On Sunday evening, a labourer called and informed about a huge explosion that blew up the back of the building. On checking the CCTV, two suspects were spotted near the building.

After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and initiated an investigation to find the cause of the blast.

Botre Rohan Pramod, SP City, said that Rajjo Jain and Kuldeep Singh Sodhi have been interrogated in connection with the explosion.

The forensic team also reached the spot and collected evidence.
