ADSP, others injured as people protested against police

A senior police official and several other personnel were injured in a stone pelting stone in Balliya. Sources said the incident took place after a young man was allegedly beaten up by the police and his condition deteriorated.

Ballia (Uttar Pradesh): An Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar was among many personnel injured as people protested against the alleged police atrocities and pelted stones.

It is learnt that a young man was brutally beaten up by the police in Rasra kotwali and as his condition deteriorated, people started protesting alleging that the police indulged in corruption.

They raised anti-police slogans and blocked the roads in the area and as the police reached there, the angry protesters started chasing the police personnel, pelting stones on them.

Later, the police were able to disperse the protesters.
