6 die after two buses collide on Lucknow-Hardoi road

Six died and eight others injured after two Uttar Pradesh Roadways buses collide on the Lucknow-Hardoi road. According to preliminary reports, overspeed might have led to the accident.

Lucknow: Six people including a bus driver died and eight people were injured after two roadways buses collided with each other here on Wednesday, police said.

"One bus was going to Hardoi while another was coming from there when the incident took place. The bus which was going to Hardoi tried to overtake a truck due to which it happened. Six dead including one bus driver and e people were injured," Naveen Arora, Joint Commissioner, Law and Order said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and ordered proper treatment of the injured. The Roadways has ordered an inquiry into the incident by a three-member committee, which will submit its report within 24 hours.

Sources said that the buses were moving at a high speed which led to the accident.

The police reached the spot and the injured have been admitted to a local medical facility. The deceased has yet to be identified. UP State Roadways officials have also reached the site of the accident. (IANS)
