Kanpur encounter: 10 constables transferred to Chaubepur police station

10 police constables have been transferred to Chaubepur police station on Monday. IGP Mohit Agarwal ordered a fresh enquiry into the matter after a letter from martyred personnel Devendra Mishra was found. The letter indicated ties between current SO Vinay Tiwari and encounter accused Vikas Dubey.

Kanpur encounter: 10 constables transferred to Chaubepur police station

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): Ten police constables were transferred to Kanpur's Chaubepur Police Station on Monday in connection with the Kanpur encounter case.

Police discovered a letter sent to senior officials by one of the martyred police personnel Devendra Mishra, wherein, clues regarding ties between present SO Vinay Tiwari and Vikas Dubey were found.

Taking cognizance of the letter IGP Mohit Agarwal ordered an investigation into the matter.

"All personnel at the Chaubepur police station are being investigated in the matter," he said, adding that "We will now conduct enquiries across all police stations in the district."

Earlier this week, the Kanpur Police had suspended three police personnel- Sub-Inspector Kunwar Pal, Sub-Inspector Krishna Kumar Sharma, and Constable Rajeev in this matter.

A total of eight policemen were shot dead while six others were injured in an ambush in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur on June 3.

A local criminal Vikas Dubey and his gang had sprayed the police team with bullets in the wee hours of the day.

Accused Dubey, who is also a history-sheeter still remains absconding.
