Union Budget 2021 will benefit all sections: Thakur

Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Hyderabad, Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur said that the Centre had formulated the budget in a highly transparent manner and added that it would benefit all sections.

Hyderabad (Telangana): Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur on Saturday said that the Union Budget for 2021-22 fiscal presented by Nirmala Sitharaman would benefit all sections.

Speaking to media at the BJP office in Hyderabad, Thakur said, "We provided essential items to ensure that no one was troubled during the COVID pandemic."

The Minister stressed that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre had formulated the budget in a highly transparent manner and added that it would benefit all sections.

The Minister also assured that the Centre had not ignored Telangana and had done justice to the state even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"With the central government's decision, we allotted many projects to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Funds have been allocated for electrification of railway lines in Telangana. No newcomers were taxed. This budget will be useful to take the economy forward," Thakur said.

On the proposed divestment of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Thakur said that investments were being withdrawn from companies across the country on the recommendation of the NITI Aayog.

"We are looking at which company is useful to the people... It is not right to privatise all companies," he said.

Thakur further said that the privatization of RINL would be of great benefit to the country, employees, and the development of the company. He added that he would even speak with the company's employees if necessary.
