Mulugu: Two Maoists were killed on Sunday in an encounter by police in the Narsimhasagar forest area in the Mangapet Mandal, Mulugu district.
Combing operation by the police force is still going on in the forest area, according to the police officials.
SP Sangram Singh G Patil confirmed the incident and said further details are awaited.
This is the fifth such encounter in recent months.
The incident escalated tension in the restive forest region straddling the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.
Earlier, on October 10, Maoist killed TRS party activist Bheemeshwar Rao in the Bodhapuram village in the neighbouring Venkatapuram in the same district.
Since then, the police have been searching for the Maoists and have intensified the combing operations in the forest areas of the district.
